Compare the LAB Mörserbrett 1.4 and LAB Präsenter 3er: one stages a mortar, the other displays three BULBs. See which oak board suits your kitchen or shelf.
Quick answer
Choose the LAB Mörserbrett 1.4 if you already own the LAB Mörser and Stößel No.1.4 and want a dedicated oak base for grinding. Choose the LAB Präsenter 3er if you want to display three BULBs together as a vase, diffuser, or design object. They are not interchangeable: one is a mortar stage, the other a BULB stage.
What each board is actually for
The Mörserbrett is described as an addition to the LAB Mörser and Stößel No.1.4, giving the mortar a stage and carrying an engraved KPM LAB logo matched to the porcelain stamp. That makes it a task-specific accessory: it belongs with the mortar, not with a rotating display of porcelain.
The Präsenter 3er is built for the BULB. Its solid oak and fine porcelain are meant to merge into a single display piece, and it holds three BULBs in different color combinations. It is a display object first, whether you use the BULBs as vases, diffusers, or purely decorative pieces.
The trade-off: focus versus flexibility
The Mörserbrett does one job well: it gives the mortar a stable, matching base during kitchen prep. But it is not a serving platter set, and it will not hold BULBs or other porcelain. If you want a board that doubles as a presentation surface for different pieces, this is not it.
The Präsenter 3er offers more visual flexibility because it stages three BULBs and lets you vary color combinations. The trade-off is that it is not designed for mortar use, so it cannot replace the Mörserbrett for grinding. Neither board is supplied with a mortar or BULBs, so check what you already own before buying.
Kitchen prep board or porcelain serving board?
If your search for a kitchen prep board is really about containing spice grinding, the Mörserbrett is the closer match because it is made for the LAB mortar. If you are looking for a porcelain serving board to display BULBs on a table or shelf, the Präsenter 3er fits that role. Keep in mind that neither product is described as a food-contact serving platter, so use them as intended: a mortar base and a BULB display, respectively.
Decision rules and trade-offs
- If you own the LAB Mörser No.1.4: Pick the Mörserbrett 1.4. It is the only one of the two described as a matching base for that mortar, so it keeps grinding contained and the set complete. Check that your mortar is the No.1.4 model before ordering.
- If you own or plan to buy three BULBs: Pick the Präsenter 3er. It holds three BULBs and is meant to display them together, which the Mörserbrett cannot do. Confirm you have three BULBs, since the presenter does not include them.
- If you want one board for both jobs: There is no single board here that covers mortar use and BULB display. Buy the board that matches your primary piece, or plan for two separate accessories. Decide which porcelain you use most before choosing.
Product facts
- LAB Mörserbrett 1.4: Oak board designed as an addition to the LAB Mörser and Stößel No.1.4, with an engraved KPM LAB logo. It gives the mortar a matching base and keeps the set visually consistent, but it only makes sense if you own that mortar.
LAB Mörserbrett 1.4 - LAB Präsenter 3er: Solid oak presenter that holds three BULBs and supports different color combinations. It lets you arrange multiple BULBs as a coordinated display, but it is not a mortar board or a prep surface.
