Dopo il rococò di corte con i suoi motivi a conchiglie e racemi, alla fine del 18 secolo anche presso la KPM Berlin il linguaggio formale dell'Antichità divenne lo stile predominante. Così nacque 1790 la rigida forma classicheggiante KURLAND nella Manifattura Reale di Porcellana di Berlino.
