Das Original von 1873 orientiert sich an der Porträtbüste der Kronprinzessin Luise von Preußen aus der Hand Johann Gottfried Schadows aus dem Jahre 1795. Die klassizistische Büste nimmt bewusst Bezug auf antike Vorbilder. Sie zeigt Königin Luise in ein fließendes Gewand gehüllt und ohne jegliche Herrschaftssymbole – eine Darstellung von zeitloser Würde und zurückhaltender Eleganz.
