Das weiße Porzellan und der Fond in edlem Schwarz stehen in einem ausdrucksstarken Kontrast zueinander – zurückhaltende Eleganz trifft präsente, königliche Farbpracht. Abgerundet wird diese Komposition von einem dezenten Goldrand. Dieser verlangt höchste Konzentration, denn das Feingold wird von den Maler:innenn der KPM mit einem dünnen Pinsel von Hand aufgetragen. In ihrer Formensprache ist die Kollektion KURLAND an die römische Antike angelehnt. Perlschnüre und Draperien waren zu Beginn des Klassizismus sehr beliebte Dekorelemente – auch auf Porzellanen. So entstand um 1790 ein streng klassizistisches Service, das bis heute zahlreiche Bewunderer und Fans zählen kann.
